Our Story

Since Morgan Steel's beginnings in March 2012, we have been working closely with Starbucks Corporation designing and developing new interior & exterior metal treatments for Starbucks Coffee shops, Teavana, Evolution Fresh and now La Boulange. Working across the nation on these projects. Though Morgan Steel’s primary focus is on the fabrication & installation of ornamental & architectural steel, structural steel fabrication & install is not forgotten. Morgan Steel has a crew of experienced structural steel fabricators & installers and has had the opportunity to be involved in the installation of the structural steel on the Copperline Condo’s at Point Ruston. The future of Morgan Steel includes projects of all shapes & sizes; architectural, ornamental or structural, as well as furniture.

Hank Morgan: CEO

Hank has over 24 years of experience with steel fabrication & erection as well as sheet metal fabrication & installation. He is a Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO) certified welder. He attended Sno-Isle Vocational School where he earned his welding certificate. He then started working for a fabricating & installing miscellaneous steel & fuel station canopies shop. Hank then moved on to a petroleum contractor located in Port Townsend, WA, where he worked in the steel and sheet metal fabrication shop which focused primarily on fuel station canopies. Not only did Hank work in the shop, but also out in the field as a steel & sheet metal erector/installer

In 2007 he then went to work as a structural steel erector & site foreman. Shortly after starting he was asked to move into a project management & estimating role. This gave him the opportunity to work more closely with his customers & to facilitate all facets of the project from bidding to closeout. Projects he was involved in included the Silverdale YMCA, LeMay Car Museum in Tacoma, Tacoma Goodwill, Bainbridge Art Museum, Redmond Square Apartments, Anthony’s Home Port in Lynnwood & Point Ruston Condo’s.

Beginning in 2012, Hank decided he wanted to focus more on ornamental & architectural steel and miscellaneous metals. The artistry involved with these types of projects fulfilled the creative part of him that had been missing while focusing solely on structural steel. What started as small side work rapidly became more in demand. In July 2013, he decided to focus his attention solely on Morgan Steel & Metal Works.

Nick DeTrapani: Project Manager

Nick is a skilled craftsman with over 18 years of experience in the structural steel industry. At the age of 18, fresh out of high school at the turn of the century, Nick started out as a Welder/Connector, erecting structural steel buildings with Seminole Machine & Welding in Florida. With his natural talent and quickly developing skill‐set, Nick moved up to Foreman after only 2 years. He then continued to broaden his professional career with United Steel Works, Inc. in 2007, starting as a Field Supervisor and eventually moving into a Project Manager position. Family eventually took Nick to the Pacific Northwest in 2016, where he joined Morgan Steel & Metalworks. To this day, he continues to lend his wide ranging talents to the company, first as a Field Supervisor and now as Project Manager.
